1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FIREPath at gofirepath.com (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and FIREPath (“FIREPath,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

FIREPath provides a web-based calculator for estimating Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE) milestones, including interactive tools for comparing Lean FIRE, Regular FIRE, Fat FIRE, Coast FIRE, and Barista FIRE scenarios. The Service also offers account creation, saved calculations, and a premium subscription tier with additional features.

3. Informational Estimates Only — Not Financial Advice

THE SERVICE PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATIONAL ESTIMATES ONLY. NOTHING ON FIREPATH CONSTITUTES FINANCIAL ADVICE, INVESTMENT ADVICE, TAX ADVICE, LEGAL ADVICE, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.

All projections, calculations, and results generated by FIREPath are mathematical estimates based on simplified models and the assumptions you input (such as rate of return, savings rate, and inflation). These results:

Are not personalized to your complete financial situation;
Do not account for taxes, fees, market volatility, or life events;
Are not predictions or guarantees of any future outcome; and
Should not be used as the sole basis for any financial decision.

Always consult a qualified, licensed financial advisor, tax professional, or attorney before making investment, retirement, or other significant financial decisions.

4. Accounts and Registration

To use certain features (such as saving calculations), you must create an account. You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials;
All activity that occurs under your account; and
Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use.

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 years old in the EEA) to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Premium Subscription and Billing

5a. Subscription Plans

FIREPath offers a premium subscription plan (“Premium”) that unlocks additional features including Monte Carlo simulations, portfolio optimization, unlimited saved calculations, and other benefits as described on the Premium page. Feature availability may change over time as we develop the product.

5b. Pricing and Auto-Renewal

The current Premium subscription price is $4.99 per month(or as otherwise displayed at the time of purchase). All prices are in U.S. dollars. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize us (through our payment processor, Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

5c. Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. By providing your payment information, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.

5d. Cancellation

You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at contact@gofirepath.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to Premium features until the end of the period you have paid for.

5e. Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund for new subscribers who request a refund within 7 days of their initial subscription purchase by emailing contact@gofirepath.com. After 7 days, subscription payments are generally non-refundable, except as required by applicable law. We handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.

5f. Taxes

Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes. Where required by law, we will collect and remit applicable sales taxes, VAT, or GST.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, databases, or other users' accounts;
Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service without our written permission;
Use the Service to transmit malware, spam, or harmful code;
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service;
Represent that any output of the Service constitutes professional financial or investment advice.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, functionality, design, and code are owned by FIREPath and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, or publicly display any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

You retain ownership of any data you input into the calculator. By saving calculations to your account, you grant us a limited license to store and retrieve that data on your behalf.

8. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services, including affiliate links through which we may earn a commission. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of third-party sites. Visiting any third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that site's terms and privacy policy.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FIREPATH AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF SAVINGS, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE OR ITS OUTPUTS, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $10 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. In such jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the greatest extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FIREPath and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

12. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any feature thereof) at any time with or without notice. We will not be liable for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will notify registered users via email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of the United States. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that requires disputes to be heard in your local courts, that requirement takes precedence.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service must be brought within one (1) year after the cause of action accrues.

14. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and FIREPath regarding the Service.
